Balance

There is a better way of living for everyone.  A healthier, stronger, and more purposeful way of existing in this time and space with all that we are lucky enough to share these moments with and while nations have been brought to a stand still people are being gifted the opportunity to tune into these callings of a more connected and purposeful life.

Wayapa, as one of the only known wellness modalities based in ancient and Indigenous Australian wisdoms,  brings us together to teach us that we are all same that our ancestors existed in similar ways and valued the deep connections that they had with Mother Earth ,sat with her in a state of deep listening and allowed her to hold them .  In this imposed ‘pause’ of the world people are becoming awakened to these innate callings and whether it be a logical experience or a more ethereal calling from the soul, we know things have to change and we need to be brave and radical enough to make these changes.

Indigenous ( First Nations ) people have been living in almost perfect harmony and balance with Morther Earth for  millenia, understanding that our relationship with the land is the core to surviving and thriving.  We practiced the value of reciprocity knowing that the energy, actions, and impact that we had on the land had significant consequences both positive and negative.

As we continue to ignore these imbalances in life, taking without giving and remaining in such a disconnected state our mother is starting to tell us in more extreme ways that things are not right. Rage laces the voice of the oppressed and Mother Earths howls are becoming increasingly indignant and savage.  The link between the destruction of the environment and pandemics has been proven and is well known in the western world of research.  https://news.stanford.edu/press/view/33295

So why do we continue going blindly down this path of destruction at such a pace that will be our undoing.

What we also know is that “environmental outcomes have been shown to be far better in territories collectively controlled by indigenous peoples…Indigenous peoples can teach us much about how to rebalance our relationship with nature and reduce the risk of future pandemics. https://www.ifad.org/en/web/latest/story/asset/41993211

Why don’t we listen ?

Unfortunately for our mob and for the rest of you mob out there too, Indigenous peoples are at the most disadvantaged and at the highest risk of poorer outcomes during a health pandemic when compared to our non-indigenous brothers and sisters and our knowledge and ways of being are not valued enough to be considered in the main stream conversation on how to avoid such crisis in the future and how to remain healthy and connected whilst in the midst of one.

For all you Non Indigenous mob reading this I ask you, are you listening to our voices? are you amplifying them within your own circles in these mainstream spaces?

We are all experiencing a high risk of becoming infected by COVID 19 and experiencing poor physical health but we are all currently experiencing a soul sickness,  a weakening of spirit and our Mental Health due to this ongoing disconnection between those we love and nature.   What is the pathway to healing ? our self care lies in the care of our planet , our mother and the knowledge that my ancestors have lived by for years and the courage they showed by falling all the way in to such an intertwined relationship and allowing nature to guide and hold them.  This is the core or our resilience. Another message we teach as Wayapa Practitioners and as Earth custodians is to never underestimate your impact no matter how small you feel our actions to be.  Yarning is powerful and taking action even more so.  Now is the time for radical acceptance and changes in values and behaviour.  What are you willing to do for your mob ?
